Bishop Professor Dr. Alfred Olwa
The Man on Fire, Gospel of Peace and Reconciliation
Bishop Professor Dr. Alfred Olwa is a renowned leader and Christian thinker, currently serving as the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Lango in Uganda. He has played a crucial role with the leadership in the Ugandan Anglican Church, and has used his powerful personal testimony of forgiveness to further Christian education and other pastoral ministry.
Bishop Olwa’s story is one of extraordinary resilience, faith, and reconciliation. At just seven years old, during Idi Amin’s brutal regime, he and his classmates were rounded up by soldiers, who intended to execute them. They poured gasoline on his feet and set him on fire. Miraculously, he survived. While hospitalized, his parents—fearful for their own lives—did not visit him.
